Dirk has 18 years’ experience as an Electrical Engineer in various positions, including companies such as Kumba Iron Ore, Eskom, Highveld Steel, Vanadium, Schneider Electric Malaysia and is a member of the SANAE expedition to Queen Maud Land in Antarctica for a year. Dirk is very familiar with electrical systems and equipment in the plant environment and was involved in numerous green and brown fields’ projects at the Sishen mine.
- As Senior Electrical Engineer of Kumba Iron Ore, acted as Owners Team Lead E&I Engineer on various Sishen Stayin- Business and Capital Projects.
- As Automation & Protection Engineer of Highveld Steel and Vanadium, was responsible for automation, communication and protection of electrical distribution services to all plants.
- Recent projects include:
- Protection Specialist responsible for City Power substation audit.
- Electrical Engineer – Lasher generator installation consisting of 6 x 550kVA generators, HV and LV switchgear and synchronisation.
- Energy audit at DPI and Sangio pipe manufacturing.
- Consulting to Kumba Iron Ore as Project Engineer on +43% Fe Beneficiation Study.
