Thermal imaging is used to inspect electricity distribution boards in order to reduce any electrical risk. Other useful applications of thermal imaging include the inspection of mechanical installations (to prevent breakdowns by determining if any excess heat is being generated due to poor maintenance) and to inspect cold storage installations (to establish if any loss of energy is occurring due to the escape of cold air). The same principle applies where heat needs to be contained and inspections are done to determine if any heat losses are occurring. Thermography surveys are often also conducted for insurance purposes.
