Rainwater harvesting is a visible mechanism to contribute to sustainability. The return on investment in such instances is however often times far lower than anticipated. We have developed a model for all major centres across South Africa using 40 years’ worth of regional rainfall data to determine the sizing of rainwater facilities and to determine the financial viability of making such an investment.
